I am so mind numbingly bored and unmotivated today. I know that my body is busy doing something important, and it's making me feel a tad less than so-so, but as that all seems kind of abstract it doesn't feel like a valid excuse.
The toddler pool is half filled in anticipation of todays 42 deg C scorcher, half a load of washing has been hanged out (yup that was about as much sun as I could handle, the other half of the washing won't be growing legs anytime soon), and there are some groceries that need getting.
As for knitting I am so over summer knits as I just don't seem to wear them, but the thought of a couple of hundred grams of black alpaca on my lap doesn't appeal either, so for the short while knitting is definitely out of the question.
Anyway where are all the bloggers these past few days? Gosh my google reader has been idle of late. Do the rest of you all have a life or something!!? Well that's fine, just write about it please!

It's nearly over...
The year that was 2007 that is! Has it really been 8 years since everyones knickers were in knots over the turn of the century? My oh my time does fly these days.
Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Bubs is due July 11th (approximately of course) and I would have thought that my poorliness would have subsided already. It hasn't. But I'm trying to do a bit here and there in between lying on the couch or in bed. I'm not prone to prayer but I would change that if it meant a nausea free six more months. UGH.
So in a moment of wellness I whipped up these today.

I don't think I will ever in my life use a sausage roll recipe. There is simply no need. All you have to do is find yourself the tastiest sausages you can, and squeeze the meat from its casing directly onto a small rectangle of puff pastry. Brush with beaten egg and put in a hot oven to cook until they look ready. I used organic sausages from Safeway, and the beef, sundried tomato and herb ones are my faves. I'm sure most local butchers have ones even more exciting than that.
On the knitting front I'm seriously keen to frog a couple of things that aren't floating my boat at the moment. Ideally I will only keep 2 to 3 things on the needles at once next year (ok I said ideally). I haven't taken a photo of the 50 or so cm of black stocking stitch that is the Jo Sharp coat, but you can take it from me it's growing! Although the weather has been HOT these past few days I am still looking forward to my long coat for those cooler evenings and next years winter. (although I may have been better with the beige if this bubs is a chucker! OOPS!)
So I think I will frog M's little jacket and the hemp ponchette. I've probably already said it, but I will again - the hemp SUCKS to knit with. If I had the patience I would tie up the skeins and wash and dry it a time or two to see if it softens any. Either way the ponchette isn't a very exciting pattern, and although I love it on the model I don't feel like having it as a WIP right now.
Well I think I've blabbed enough for one day. We're all feeling so lazy today...DH is currently napping on the big couch, M on the Wiggles one and master F finally finished his tantrum over not enough sauce for his sausage roll. Yay for that. Now to find me a few square feet to rest my own weary body!

A Belated Merry Christmas...and more!
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!
I meant to write this entry two days ago, but as you all know, life gets in the way. For some reason, although I like the finished result I don't always like updating my blog or my notebook in Ravelry if only because I like to do it uninterrupted, and let's face it who gets a good chunk of uninterrupted computer time?
Anyway, one child asleep, and one in the capable hands of dad, I can finally snatch some time for myself.
Christmas was its usual quiet self. With all of DH family two states away, and me an only child of divorced parents, it means Christmas is generally just me, mum, nan, and DH and the kids. It works out OK as there are less presents to buy...I love to give gifts, especially ones I know will be loved, but I can't imagine having to get gifts for hoards of relatives...(and I'm not so great with keeping up to date with knitting committments so the gifts would definitely have to be bought!)

So after the morning gift unwrap with the kids we headed off to mums with this Italian Cream Cake that I've made nearly everly Christmas for several years now. I don't know that it's particularly Christmassy, but I do like the idea of creating my own traditions, and this has happily become one of them. It's easy to make, and oh so very yummy, especially with a good dollop of cream.

Lastly, but certainly not least, the news I had been putting off until I was completely and absolutely certain! I took these tests a couple of months ago now, and had to take two as I was quite in disbelief!

My midwife visited today and after much poking and prodding we finally heard the wee ones heartbeat. J is also the seventh person (oh yes, it seems unanimous) who has predicted another female (gods help me!) for our family.

A gift for me, a gift for mum and a big black blob!
Would you be offended if I told you I was admiring Jamie Oliver at work whilst writing this blog (oh the joys of the tv tuner in the computer...)?
Anyway check this out! A wonderful gift from a wonderful friend - a perfect fit to boot! (Why does Jamie say 'yogg - gurt' rather than 'yo-gurt' as in 'yo-yo? Is that an English thing?) So these lovely socks from Sam will remain on my feet this evening. Despite the humidity, the feel of a handknit sock (my first pair ever!!) is so sublime that the weather can be overlooked!

I finally have a finished object to show off also. And just in time for Christmas. Mum has already spotted this wip, but her memory can fail at times and so she may still be surprised come Christmas day...Lovely Noro Silk Garden -very squishy and lovely to knit. I don't know what on earth I did with the yarn - I must have split one of the balls for some reason, as there was an extra smallish one to join at the end, and as a result the colours aren't symmetrical from the centre. Not that it matters or anything!

And just to prove my needles have been click clacking through the chaos that is my life (well that's a bit melodramatic really...my life is pretty darn boring!)...a shot of the big black blob that shall become a long cardigan for me hopefully for next winter. I've decided to knit as much as possible in one piece, so the rows are loooong, but even if I only manage a few a day I will get to the end one way or another!

PS: Forgot to mention that the scarf pattern is the Harlots One Row Handspun Scarf, or some such name. Just a perfect, reversible pattern that doesn't detract from the yarn which is special all on its own.

Say Hello Day!
I just wanted to try a little something and I'll ask you all to please just indulge me :). And perhaps try it on your own blog too...
If you are a regular reader or even just a lurker, would you consider waving hello to me today in the comments section? Go anonymous if you have to!
But I'm so curious to see who is out there!
Thanks!
PS: Oh my, my kids who normally give me such grief are being exceptionally cute this morning with the little one copying every word and action of the big one as he 'performs' some song/dance routines on the couch. Love it!

Fruit is borne!
I don't want to give up this blog, and yet with so many other things to do day to day, and a very small (if any) readership, I wonder why I continue. The truth is I do like it - the downside is, I'm not one to spill my guts online (at least not anymore), so there are days I just can't be bothered.
We had an OK holiday, but I've been feeling very poorly of late, for reasons some of you know, some of you can maybe guess, and everyone else will have to wait for until the New Year...I'm scared to jinx myself as it doesn't seem quite real yet.
Anyway, something lovely to share with you, which I could say I'm proud of, but honestly it's not like I've done anything...the joy of the vegie patch is that essentially nature cares for it by providing sun and rain, and there's really not much else I need to do. We have set up soaker hoses and a pump so that the bath water goes directly on the garden, and after a few short weeks, voila...the first fruit has appeared! (beautiful roma tomatoes if you please!)
