I don't even like the word, do you?
I just copped some for a lighthearted comment I made on a blog. It was a fat acceptance blog, and late at night, whilst reading a post, a weightloss ad kept flashing at me. So I commented on the irony of that (as you do).
Anyway the moderator sent me a snarky reply that she doesn't run google ads so basically I was a liar.
I have no knowledge how it happened, but I'm hardly going to waste my time making up some crap to post on a blog...*ho hum*
In all my time using the net I've seen a lot of snark, but fortunately have rarely been on the receiving end. It doesn't feel good. Just as I am unprepared for conflict in real life, I am just as unprepared in cyberspace.

you didn't have any other windows open that it could have popped up from?
I don't like snark either. It's not hard to be polite, even if you're unhappy with what someone has said/done.
Alas, the anonymity offered by the internet allows individuals to say all sorts of things they would never dream of saying in person.
You're right to say ho hum - it is never worth while to get upset nor go so far as to retaliate and go hunting a snark!
I'm wondering if I linked the post from another site?
I just know I was staring at this ad incredulously as I realised the blogger would NOT want that ad on the site.
Have you ever seen those similarly misplaced ads on online newpapers etc? I can't think of a specific example -but I guess the way the softeware works it picks out key words or phrases to link the ad...sometimes to very poor effect!
some people are just so precious, aren't they?
I switch off when it starts happening anywhere I visit in cyberspace - can't be bothered.
still, mustn't have been that nice to be on the receiving end
A lot of people on the net take their netputation far too seriously, so you probably just hit a nerve, yk, no way a fat acceptance blog can be in any way linked to a weight loss ad...
oh, i hate the ones on news sites. I find it happens if my mouse goes over a certain part of the page - I guess they are set up to detect movement and then they pop up in front of your face. so annoying.
