Not enough time

Another post about time - or rather lack of it.

I was actually going to title this post as shoulda, coulda, woulda.

Whirling around in my head at least once a day is a list of things I should be doing as well as a list I shouldn't. They would look something like this.

Should be doing
- laundry
- laundry
- laundry
- clean something
- declutter something
- prepare food for lunch/dinner/snack
- bills
- make appointments
- play with kids (oops lets just pretend this list isn't in priority sequence!)
- read something
- go for a walk
- knit
- blog

Shouldn't be doing
- sitting surfing the net
- eating lots of chocolate

As much as I hate to look at life in these terms, I think the first step is admitting you have a problem right?

your list looks much like my list would look... if I dared to write one down! I am working on the eatin-less-chocolate-thing though.

I have all those things on my daily list as well and at the end of the days it's always "I wish I'd" and "why didn't I?". What is it with all this guilt all the time?! I didn't realise it was an automatic add on to motherhood. I've been loving your posts, you seem to put so much of what's going on in my life into words.

story of my life! I must say that chocolate has been off the menu for me while I've been sick - actually most all foods have been! I'm looking forward to feeling well so I can resume knitting and chocolate eating again with gusto ;)

Quite a few years ago - I was lucky to speak to a bunch of executive assistants about time manegement....

The first thing I did was to make them watch the second hand on a clock go around for whole minute :) It was something that was shown to me back in high school when complaining about the lack of study time.

I thought about all the things I could have done in that minute (!!!) it seemed like such a long time when you watch that little red hand moving around.

Probably doens't help you - but what about if you were to schedule those things that you thing are 'wasting' your time?

I stop myself from sitting down at the computer desk unless I have an hour. I can stand up and answer an email - but if I sit...I'll be there for that email which requires an answer, some ebay, a little bit of ravelry, a blog or two :) and I get lost....easy to do....and then that load of laundry will probably need washing again......tomorrow!

Don't be too hard on yourself....put playing with the kids somewhere near to the top of the list and throw your clock away :)

Loving your posts - they always make me think....
